No selections were made through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) in this round. It is the province’s first selection round of September, following three rounds in August: the 208 invitations issued on August 10, the 122 invitations issued on August 18, and the 140 invitations issued on August 26.

The Smallest Round Since July, and Only the Second With No AIP Selections
At 97 invitations, this is the smallest round Newfoundland and Labrador has held since July 10, 2026, when it issued 57. It is also only the second round of 2026 to make no Atlantic Immigration Program selections at all — the first was the August 18 round, which likewise went entirely to the NLPNP.
That both zero-AIP rounds have fallen within three weeks of each other reinforces a pattern visible across the summer: rather than applying a fixed split to every round, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism appears to be alternating between NLPNP-only rounds and rounds carrying a substantial AIP share, such as the 46 AIP selections made on August 26.
The Province Reaches 2,556 Invitations for 2026
Across thirteen selection rounds so far in 2026, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 2,556 ITAs in total — 2,162 under the NLPNP and 394 under the Atlantic Immigration Program. The AIP figure is unchanged from August 26, since the September round made no AIP selections.

The province has now held four rounds in under a month, but the volumes attached to them have been shrinking steadily — 208, then 122, then 140, and now 97. Set against the two 445-invitation rounds in March and late July, the autumn cadence looks like frequent, small batches rather than the occasional large intake seen earlier in the year.
How Newfoundland and Labrador Selects Candidates
Since February 19, 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the Atlantic Immigration Program have operated through a single Expression of Interest model. Candidates and employers submit an EOI rather than a full application, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism assesses profiles against provincial prioritisation criteria before issuing Invitations to Apply.
Only candidates who receive an ITA may submit a complete application. EOIs that are not selected remain in the pool until they expire or are withdrawn, and the province does not publish a per-round minimum score. Selections are driven by prioritisation criteria that favour candidates with a Newfoundland and Labrador job offer, in-demand occupations, and demonstrated ties to the province.

Express Entry and the NLPNP
Candidates nominated through the NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker category receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which in practice guarantees an invitation in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
