Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 208 invitations to apply for provincial immigration programs in the tenth selection round of 2026, following a much larger round two weeks earlier.
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism issued the invitations on August 10, 2026. Of the total, 186 went to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and 22 under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
The round is less than half the size of the province’s July 28 draw, which issued 445 invitations and matched the largest round of the year. At 22 invitations, the AIP allocation is the second-smallest of 2026, ahead of only the 18 issued on May 11.
Even so, 208 invitations is above the province’s 2026 average round size of roughly 220 excluding the two 445-invitation rounds, and well ahead of the 57-invitation round held on July 10 — the smallest of the year.
The August 10 round brings Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2026 year-to-date total to 2,197 invitations across ten rounds — 1,849 under the NLPNP and 348 under the AIP.

How Newfoundland and Labrador selects candidates
Since February 19, 2025, all economic immigration applications to Newfoundland and Labrador have run through an Expression of Interest model. Candidates submit an EOI profile, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the pool and issues Invitations to Apply in batches throughout the year rather than on a fixed schedule.
Selection is guided by published EOI prioritization criteria, which weight factors such as occupation, education and a candidate’s intention to settle in the province. Newfoundland and Labrador does not publish a minimum score for each round.
Candidates who receive an Invitation to Apply have 60 days to submit a complete application under either the NLPNP or the AIP. Expressions of interest that are not selected remain in the pool until they are chosen or expire, which happens automatically after 12 months.
A nomination under the NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker category adds 600 points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System score, effectively guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
