Newfoundland and Labrador issued 140 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on August 26, 2026, split between the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
The province selected 94 candidates under the NLPNP and 46 under the AIP. It is the third selection round held in August, following the 208 invitations issued on August 10 and the 122 invitations issued on August 18.

Atlantic Immigration Program Selections Return at Their Highest Level Since March
The 46 AIP selections in this round are the most the province has made through the program in a single round since March 6, 2026, when it selected 83. They also account for 32.9% of the round — the largest AIP share of any 2026 round other than the unusually small July 10 draw, in which 40 of 57 selections were AIP.
The shift is notable because the August 18 round made no AIP selections at all, the only 2026 round to do so. Taken together, the two rounds suggest the province is managing NLPNP and AIP selections in alternating batches rather than holding a fixed split in every round.
August Brings the Province to 2,459 Invitations for 2026
The three August rounds have produced 470 invitations between them. Across twelve selection rounds so far in 2026, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 2,459 ITAs in total — 2,065 under the NLPNP and 394 under the Atlantic Immigration Program.

Over the same period in 2025 — January 1 to August 26 — the province issued 2,049 invitations across seven rounds. It is therefore running 410 invitations ahead of last year’s pace, spread across nearly twice as many rounds. The pattern within 2026 remains uneven rather than trending in one direction: large rounds in March and late July, thin rounds in early summer, and a run of mid-sized rounds through August.
How Newfoundland and Labrador Selects Candidates
Since February 19, 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the Atlantic Immigration Program have operated through a single Expression of Interest model. Candidates and employers submit an EOI rather than a full application, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism assesses profiles against provincial prioritisation criteria before issuing Invitations to Apply.
Only candidates who receive an ITA may submit a complete application. EOIs that are not selected remain in the pool until they expire or are withdrawn, and the province does not publish a per-round minimum score. Selections are driven by prioritisation criteria that favour candidates with a Newfoundland and Labrador job offer, in-demand occupations, and demonstrated ties to the province.

Express Entry and the NLPNP
Candidates nominated through the NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker category receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which in practice guarantees an invitation in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
