Newfoundland and Labrador issued 126 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on October 16, 2026, with 125 going to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and one through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
The round came exactly one week after the 131 invitations issued on October 9, putting the province back on a weekly rhythm after a two-week pause in late September.

Two Strong Rounds in a Row
Together, the October 9 and October 16 rounds produced 257 invitations one week apart. At 126 invitations, this latest round is the second largest since the 140 issued on August 26, behind only the October 9 round.
It also stands well above the September rounds, which ranged from 36 to 97 invitations each. The steadier, larger October rounds suggest the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism is working through its Expression of Interest pool at a faster pace as the year’s final quarter begins.
AIP Invitations Remain Minimal
The single AIP invitation matches those issued on September 18 and October 9. Across the last six rounds, the AIP has accounted for just three invitations, compared with 46 in the August 26 round alone.
The Atlantic Immigration Program is employer-driven. Candidates need a job offer from a designated Newfoundland and Labrador employer, so AIP invitation numbers tend to track employer demand rather than the size of the EOI pool.
The Province Reaches 2,952 Invitations for 2026
Across eighteen selection rounds so far in 2026, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 2,952 ITAs in total — 2,555 under the NLPNP and 397 through the Atlantic Immigration Program.

How Newfoundland and Labrador Selects Candidates
Since February 19, 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the Atlantic Immigration Program have operated through a single Expression of Interest pool. Candidates submit an EOI profile rather than a full application, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the pool and issues Invitations to Apply in batches through the year.
Only candidates who receive an ITA may submit a complete application. The province does not publish a minimum score for its rounds, and it does not announce round dates in advance.
The province publishes each round on its Invitations to Apply (ITA) Updates page. A full history of this year’s rounds is maintained on our Newfoundland immigration draws page.
Express Entry and the NLPNP
Candidates nominated through the NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker category receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which in practice guarantees an invitation in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
