Processing times for the self-employed workers are divided into two periods:
1. How long it takes for the province of Quebec to process the application for a Certificate of Selection of Quebec (CSQ).
MIDI does not publish the time required to process these applications. It varies due to a number of factors: the immigration category, the volume of applications submitted from various countries, international context, selection objectives, etc.
2. How long it takes for the federal government to process the permanent residence visa application, after the CSQ is received.
Regarding the federal part of the processing, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has a new way of processing applications meaning waiting times are no longer country or visa office-specific.
Instead, applications can be processed by any of the visa offices in Canada’s global network.
Therefore, IRCC publishes one global processing time (without differentiating between the three business programs of the province):
Current processing times for Business Class applicants (Quebec): 46 months
These processing times are calculated based on how long it took to process most completed applications in the past 12 months.
Processing times vary on many factors: number of applications received, if application is complete, if biometrics are required, how easily your information can be verified, etc.
If it has been longer than the time shown above since you applied, you should contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
