November 12, 2018 – Ontario immigration has reached its 2018 nomination allocation, a provincial statement has confirmed.
It means there have been 6,600 nominations issued in 2018 through the various streams of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.
The province says new applications already submitted will be considered under the OINP’s 2019 allocation. This applies to all streams with the exception of the Masters Graduate stream.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada sets the nomination for all provinces each year.
In 2018, Ontario saw its allocation rise from 6,000 to 6,600 nominations.
After reaching its allocation in 2017, IRCC granted extra spaces to Ontario in December of that year. It is unknown whether the federal immigration ministry plans to do the same in 2018.

Ontario has conducted regular draws throughout 2018 targeting streams including the Human Capital Priorities, French Speaking Skilled Worker, Skilled Trades and Entrepreneur.
The majority of draws, particularly in the second half of the year, have been aimed at the FSSW stream. The draws have generally been small in size, inviting less than 50 candidates on a weekly basis.
Ontario’s largest draw of the year came through the HCP stream, with 947 candidates invited in August 2018.
Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream: Requirements
To qualify applicants must have:
- Pending application under the Federal Express Entry system;
- Minimum of 1-year of full time, or full time equivalent work experience under NOC occupation level 0, A or B;
- Canadian equivalent Bachelors degree, Masters degree or PhD;
- Minimum CLB level 7 in IELTS general exam;
- Intention to reside in the Province of Ontario;
- Minimum Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System score as determined by director.
Ontario Express Entry: French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream: Requirements
To qualify applicants must have:
- Pending application under the Federal Express Entry system;
- Minimum of 1-year of full time, or full time equivalent work experience under NOC occupation level 0, A or B;
- Canadian equivalent Bachelors degree, Masters degree or PhD;
- Minimum CLB level 7 in TEF exam (French); AND minimum CLB 6 in IELTS exam (English)
- Intention to reside in the Province of Ontario.
Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream Requirements
To qualify applicants must have:
- Pending application under the Federal Express Entry system;
- At least 12 months of paid cumulative or continuous Ontario work experience with the last two years prior to your Notification of Interest in National Occupation Classification 633, or major groups 72, 73 or 82;
- Proof of Ontario license or certification if your occupation so requires;
- A valid work permit and be resident in Ontario at the time of application;
- English or French-language level of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 or above in reading, writing, listening and speaking;
- Proof of settlement fund to cover you and your dependents, with the minimum amount determined by official Low-Income Cut-Offs.

The recently-released federal government immigration levels plan forecasts an increase of 6,000 PNP immigrants in 2019, to 61,000.
Increases are expected to continue until at least 2021, when the government plans to welcome 71,300 PNP immigrants.
