Newfoundland and Labrador issued 41 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on September 25, 2026, all of them to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP). No invitations were issued through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) in this round.
It is the province’s fourth selection round of September, coming one week after the 62 invitations issued on September 18 and following the 36 issued on September 10 and the 97 issued on September 4.

An All-NLPNP Round
This is the third round in September made up entirely of NLPNP selections, after September 4 and September 10. The only AIP invitation issued so far this month was the single selection made on September 18.
The Atlantic Immigration Program is employer-driven. Candidates need a job offer from a designated Atlantic Canadian employer before they can be considered, so AIP volumes tend to follow designated-employer demand rather than the size of the EOI pool. The province has not issued more than 46 AIP invitations in any single round since July.
The Second-Smallest Round of 2026
At 41 invitations, this is the second-smallest selection round Newfoundland and Labrador has held this year, ahead only of the 36 issued on September 10. The four September rounds have produced 236 invitations between them — 97, 36, 62 and 41 — around half the 445 issued in the single round held on July 28.
Eight rounds have now been held since July 28, together accounting for 1,151 invitations. The province continues to hold rounds roughly weekly, while keeping the number attached to each one well below the volumes seen in the spring.

How Newfoundland and Labrador Selects Candidates
Since February 19, 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the Atlantic Immigration Program have operated through a single Expression of Interest pool. Candidates submit an EOI profile rather than a full application, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the pool and issues Invitations to Apply in batches through the year.
Only candidates who receive an ITA may submit a complete application. EOIs that are not selected remain in the pool until they expire or are withdrawn, and the province does not announce the dates of its rounds in advance.
