Newfoundland and Labrador issued 62 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on September 18, 2026, with 61 going to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and a single invitation issued through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
It is the province’s third selection round of September, following the 36 invitations issued on September 10 and the 97 issued on September 4.

A Single Atlantic Immigration Program Selection
The one AIP invitation in this round is the first the province has issued under that program since the 46 selected on August 26. The two rounds in between — September 4 and September 10 — were made up entirely of NLPNP selections.
A single invitation is the smallest AIP allocation Newfoundland and Labrador has made in any round this year. The Atlantic Immigration Program is employer-driven, and candidates need a job offer from a designated Atlantic Canadian employer before they can be considered, so the volume the province draws from that stream moves with designated-employer demand rather than with the size of the EOI pool.
September Volumes Remain Low
The three rounds held so far in September have produced 195 invitations between them — 97, 36 and 62. That is fewer than half the 445 issued in the single round held on July 28.
Seven rounds have now been held since July 28, together accounting for 1,110 invitations. The province has kept its rounds frequent, arriving roughly every week to ten days, while holding the number attached to each one well below the volumes seen in the spring.

Across fifteen selection rounds so far in 2026, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 2,654 ITAs in total — 2,259 under the NLPNP and 395 through the Atlantic Immigration Program.

How Newfoundland and Labrador Selects Candidates
Since February 19, 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the Atlantic Immigration Program have operated through a single Expression of Interest pool. Candidates submit an EOI profile rather than a full application, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the pool and issues Invitations to Apply in batches through the year.
Only candidates who receive an ITA may submit a complete application. EOIs that are not selected remain in the pool until they expire or are withdrawn, and the province does not announce the dates of its rounds in advance.
