2020-01-17 – British Columbia immigration has issued 70 invitations in the first BC PNP Tech Pilot draw of 2020.
The January 14 draw saw invitations issued through four British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program streams:
- SI – Skilled Worker
- SI – International Graduate
- EEBC – Skilled Worker
- EEBC – International Graduate
Under the Tech Pilot, candidates in 29 targeted occupations receive priority processing for British Columbia immigration.
In all four featured streams, candidates required a minimum score of 90 points.

In its previous draw, British Columbia issued 173 immigration invitations to candidates with minimum scores ranging from 85 to 110 points in the first draw of 2020.
The January 7 draw saw invites issued through five BCPNP streams for skilled workers and international graduates.
BC’s entry-level and semi-skilled stream recorded the lowest minimum score, of 85 points.
Skilled workers through BC’s direct provincial stream required 100 points, with 110 points required for skilled workers through the Express Entry-linked stream.
A minimum score of 103 points was registered through the direct provincial international graduate stream, compared to 105 points for the Express Entry-linked stream.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended into 2020 after its initial launch in 2017. It currently has a list of 29 target occupations with relaxed duration requirements.
BC PNP draws aimed specifically at technology workers started in May 2017. The province has a thriving technology industry with some big names of the tech world basing themselves in Canada’s westernmost province.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
The B.C. PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.
The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and the provincial stream.
For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
