British Columbia has issued its largest sector-targeted round of invitations of 2026 under the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), inviting at least 500 candidates working in the province’s priority occupations.
The draws were held on August 6, 2026 under the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration streams, and covered five separate categories: childcare, health care, education, veterinary care and construction trades.
The largest single category was Build: Construction Trades, which issued 187 invitations to candidates in all priority construction occupations at a minimum registration score of 88. Care: Childcare followed with 183 invitations to early childhood educators at a minimum score of 102 — double the 91 invitations issued in the comparable July 9 round.
Care: Health accounted for 124 invitations across all priority health care occupations at a minimum score of 84. The Care: Veterinary Care category invited 6 animal health technologists and veterinary technicians (NOC 32104) holding a valid professional designation, at a minimum score of 72, and fewer than five invitations were issued under Care: Education, at a minimum score of 68.
The August 6 round is notable as much for its cut-off scores as for its volume. Minimum scores fell across every repeated category compared with the July 9 draws — childcare from 108 to 102, health care from 96 to 84, veterinary care from 88 to 72, and construction trades from 97 to 88. The health care threshold of 84 is the lowest recorded in a Care: Health round in 2026.
The round also marks the return of the Care: Education category, which had not appeared in a BC PNP sector draw since May 6, 2026.
The invitations were issued under British Columbia’s “Care, Build, Innovate” framework, which restructured the Skills Immigration program in April 2026 to direct provincial nominations toward roles the province considers critical to its labour market and public services.
The BC PNP issues invitations only to qualified registrations submitted before the date of the draw. Invited candidates must submit a complete application through BC PNP Online within the timeframe set out in their invitation.

A provincial nomination through the BC PNP is worth 600 additional points under the federal Comprehensive Ranking System, which in practice guarantees an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry round.
