Largest Alberta Express Entry Round of 2026
The October 20 round, listed as Priority Sectors (General), issued 386 invitations at a minimum score of 60. That is nearly double the 200 invitations issued in the previous general priority sector round on September 29, which had a cut-off of 64, and it is the largest round held under any Alberta Express Entry Stream pathway this year. Before October 20, no Alberta Express Entry round in 2026 had issued more than 200 invitations.
The round came as the pathway’s allocation is effectively used up. As of the October 21 update, Alberta reports 651 nominations issued under its Express Entry priority sector draws and other initiatives, against a 2026 allocation of 619, with fewer than 10 spaces listed as remaining. At the October 7 update, 616 nominations had been issued under that pathway.
Health Care Rounds
The October 9 Priority Sectors (Health care) round invited 97 candidates at a minimum score of 60. The previous health care priority sector round, on September 18, invited 100 candidates at 62.
The October 13 Dedicated Health Care Pathway – Express Entry round invited 53 candidates at a minimum score of 57, three points lower than the September 9 round, which invited 51 candidates at 60.
Tourism and Hospitality and Law Enforcement Rounds
The October 14 Tourism and Hospitality Stream round invited 25 candidates at a minimum score of 73. It is the stream’s first round since June 18, when 61 candidates were invited at a cut-off of 71.
The October 16 Law Enforcement Pathway round invited fewer than 10 candidates at a minimum score of 49, the same cut-off as the pathway’s previous round on September 21.
Where Alberta’s 2026 Allocation Stands
As of the program’s October 21, 2026 update, Alberta had issued 5,831 nominations against a 2026 allocation of 6,603, leaving 772 nomination spaces for the rest of the year, with 856 applications still to be processed. At the October 7 update, the province had issued 5,541 nominations.

Additional Federal Spaces for Physicians and Francophones
Separately from the 6,603 allocation, Alberta has issued 50 nominations to practice-ready physicians and 12 to Francophone candidates under a federal initiative that makes up to 10,000 additional spaces available across all provincial nominee programs. Nominations issued under that initiative do not count against Alberta’s provincial allocation.
Alberta’s Expression of Interest Pool
The worker expression of interest pool now holds 33,291 profiles, down from 34,478 at the October 7 update.
| Stream or pathway of interest | Profiles in the selection pool |
| Alberta Opportunity Stream | 21,150 |

How AAIP Draws Work
AAIP draws are not held on a fixed schedule. The province conducts them as needed to address sector needs and provincial priorities, and it does not disclose recent draw parameters beyond the minimum score of invited candidates. Expression of interest score is not the only factor used in selection; the program considers a range of information provided in worker EOI profiles.
For 2026, the AAIP has said it will prioritise draws and nominations within its worker streams for occupations in health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture, and communities designated under the Rural Renewal Stream.
Alberta publishes each round on its AAIP processing information page. A full history of this year’s rounds is maintained on our Alberta immigration draws page. Our previous update covered the four AAIP draws held between September 24 and October 7.
Express Entry and the AAIP
Candidates nominated through the Alberta Express Entry Stream receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which in practice guarantees an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
