Alberta has conducted three new draws through its new Expression of Interest system under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. The draws saw a total of 285 invitations in different categories.
On November 7, the province issued 187 invitations through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, with a minimum score of 50.
This draw had the following parameters:
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 5 or higher
- Valid work permit
- Work experience of 12 months or more
- Work permit expiry date of November 15, 2024 or later
- Job offer for full-time employment in Alberta
- Job offer with an Alberta employer in one of the following occupations:
- 72010 – Contractors and supervisors, machining, metal forming, shaping and erecting trades and related occupations
- 72011 – Contractors and supervisors, electrical trades, and telecommunications occupations
- 72012 – Contractors and supervisors, pipefitting trades
- 72013 – Contractors and supervisors, carpentry trades
- 72014 – Contractors and supervisors, other construction trades, installers, repairers, and servicers
- 72020 – Contractors and supervisors, mechanic trades
- 72021 – Contractors and supervisors, heavy equipment operator crews
- 72102 – Sheet metal workers
- 72103 – Boilermakers
- 72104 – Structural metal and platework fabricators and fitters
- 72105 – Ironworkers
- 72106 – Welders and related machine operators
- 72200 – Electricians (except industrial and power system)
- 72201 – Industrial electricians

On November 4, the province issued 33 invitations through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway for non-Express Entry candidates.
It had the following parameters:
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 5 or higher
- Not in the federal Express Entry pool
- Job offer for full-time employment in Alberta in a Dedicated Healthcare Pathway-eligible National Occupational Classification code
- Meet the requirements to practice in a regulated occupation in Alberta
Also on November 4, the province issued 65 invitations in the same category to Express Entry candidates with a minimum score of 51 points.
This draw had the following parameters:
- Minimum Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300 or more
- Express Entry Profile expiry date is April 4, 2025 or later
- Primary occupation in Express Entry profile is in a Dedicated Healthcare Pathway-eligible occupation
- Job offer for full-time employment in Alberta
- Job offer in a Dedicated Healthcare Pathway-eligible occupation
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 5 or higher
- Meet the requirements to practice in a regulated occupation in Alberta
For 2024, Alberta has a nomination allocation of 9,750, matching its 2023 allocation.
To date, 9,039 nominations have been issued. Last year, Alberta issued 10,029 nominations, utilizing a “federally authorized administration buffer” to go over its allocation.
