The October 23 Round

Four Weekly Rounds in October

With rounds on October 9, 16, 23 and 29, Newfoundland and Labrador has now held a selection round every week this month. Together, these four rounds produced 462 invitations, almost double the 236 issued across September’s four rounds.

At 85 invitations, the October 29 round is the smallest since the 41 issued on September 25. The October 23 round, at 120, was in line with the two rounds before it.

AIP Invitations Pick Up

The 10 AIP invitations on October 29 are the most in a single round since August 26, when the province issued 46. Between those two dates, the AIP accounted for just three invitations, one each on September 18, October 9 and October 16, and none on October 23.

The Atlantic Immigration Program is employer-driven. Candidates need a job offer from a designated Newfoundland and Labrador employer, so AIP invitation numbers tend to track employer demand rather than the size of the EOI pool.

The Province Reaches 3,157 Invitations for 2026

Across twenty selection rounds so far in 2026, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism has issued 3,157 ITAs in total — 2,750 under the NLPNP and 407 through the Atlantic Immigration Program.

How Newfoundland and Labrador Selects Candidates

Since February 19, 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the Atlantic Immigration Program have operated through a single Expression of Interest pool. Candidates submit an EOI profile rather than a full application, and the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the pool and issues Invitations to Apply in batches through the year.

Only candidates who receive an ITA may submit a complete application. The province does not publish a minimum score for its rounds, and it does not announce round dates in advance.

The province publishes each round on its Invitations to Apply (ITA) Updates page. A full history of this year’s rounds is maintained on our Newfoundland immigration draws page.

Express Entry and the NLPNP

Candidates nominated through the NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker category receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which in practice guarantees an invitation in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
