April 10, 2017 – British Columbia immigration issued 458 invitations to apply in its biggest draw in 2017 for the BC PNP.
The majority of the invitations for Canada immigration went to skilled workers in the April 5, 2017 draw, as the province continued to turn away from international graduates.
Some 248 of the invitations went to skilled workers under both the province’s Canada Express Entry stream and its own program.
International graduates were still given 151 invites, with 59 invitations going to entry level and semi-skilled workers.

B.C. started its 2017 draws as it ended 2016, with a clear focus on international graduates.
This chimed with federal policy, where changes made to Canada Express Entry in November 2016 saw points awarded for a Canadian education for the first time.
However, the last two draws have seen more of a focus on skilled workers.
In the previous draw, on March 22, 2017, British Columbia immigration officials gave 220 out of 437 invites to skilled workers.
It means that in the last two draws, 468 out of 895 invitations for the BC PNP have gone to skilled workers.
The previous draw also saw 164 invites for international graduates, 38 to entry level and semi-skilled workers, and 12 for entrepreneurs.

For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
