Coronavirus: These Essential Temporary Workers No Longer Need To Submit Biometrics
Canada closed down its VAC network in March in a move aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19.
While it has begun opening certain centres, full services are unlikely to resume anytime soon as a second wave of the virus sweeps around the world.
Meanwhile, Canada has opened two temporary VACs in the U.S. as of November 23, at locations in Seattle, Washington and San Francisco, California.
The temporary centres are only for biometrics collection and will be open for a year. Other services are available at the Los Angeles and New York VACs.
“The locations have been chosen to make it more convenient for those applicants affected by VAC … closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic to provide their biometrics in support of ongoing or new applications,” an Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada statement said.
Candidates who have received a Biometrics Instruction Letter can give biometrics at any one of four VACs and 131 Application Support Centres (ASCs) currently open in the U.S. Click here for a full list of open VACs and ASCs.
