June 26, 2018 – Canada’s immigration department has cut the permanent resident application window to 60 days after receiving an Express Entry Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Candidates previously had 90 days to submit their applications. The window was increased from 60 to 90 days as part of Express Entry changes in November 2016.
But a June 26, 2018 announcement on the federal government website has reverted the window to 60 days.
When Do I Have To Submit My Immigration Application?
All applicants receiving an Express Entry ITA before June 26 still have 90 days to complete their applications.
All applicants who receive ITAs after June 26 will need to submit applications in 60 days.
The application window begins from the date of a candidate’s ITA.
What Does This Change Mean For Candidates?
Candidates are advised to have their paperwork in order so that an application can be submitted as soon as possible after receiving an Express Entry Invitation to Apply.
The change means candidates have a third less time to perfect their applications after receiving an ITA.
