Canada has issued 271 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence to physicians in a new category-based Express Entry draw held on June 25, 2026.
The round targeted candidates in the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 223. It was the second Express Entry draw of 2026 dedicated to physicians, following the inaugural physicians round on February 19, 2026, which set an all-time record-low CRS cut-off of 169.

Under Express Entry’s tie-breaking rule, candidates with the minimum CRS score who submitted their profile before the round’s cut-off date and time were included in this round.
The Physicians category
IRCC introduced the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category on December 8, 2025. To qualify, candidates must have at least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience in Canada in an eligible physician occupation within the past three years, in addition to meeting the criteria for one of the programs managed under Express Entry.
Because the category draws from a relatively small pool of eligible candidates already working in Canada, its CRS cut-offs have been dramatically lower than those in general and Canadian Experience Class rounds.
Express Entry category-based draws in 2026
Throughout 2026, IRCC has leaned heavily on category-based selection to invite candidates with experience in priority occupations and strong French-language ability. Physicians join healthcare and social services, trades, education, French-language proficiency, and senior managers among the groups being invited at scores well below the general cut-off.
