Aug 21, 2019 – A new draw for British Columbia immigration saw the province issue more than 500 invitations to apply for the first time in 2019.
The August 20 draw also saw minimum scores drop for all five featured streams, as the province invited 527 candidates to apply through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.
Candidates invited through the direct provincial skilled worker stream required 95 points to qualify, while Express Entry skilled workers required 100 points.
A minimum score of 100 was also recorded for the direct provincial international graduate stream, with the Express Entry stream for international graduates recording a minimum score of 102 points.
Entry level and semi-skilled workers required 77 points to qualify.

In the previous British Columbia immigration draw, invitations to apply were issued to 61 candidates through the BC PNP Tech Pilot.
The August 13 draw featured invitations to apply issued across four streams to skilled workers and international graduates with experience in 29 target occupations.
Minimum scores were 90 for all four streams, the direct provincial and Express Entry streams that target skilled workers and international graduates.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended into 2020 after its initial launch in 2017. It currently has a list of 29 target occupations with relaxed duration requirements.
BC PNP draws aimed specifically at technology workers started in May 2017. The province has a thriving technology industry with some big names of the tech world basing themselves in Canada’s westernmost province.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
The B.C. PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.
The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.
For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
