October 19, 2018 – British Columbia immigration has conducted its largest draw of 2018, inviting 472 candidates to apply through its skilled worker and international graduate streams.
The October 17 draw also saw minimum scores drop compared to the previous British Columbia immigration draw.
Skilled workers through the BC Express Entry stream needed 80 points to qualify, while direct provincial stream skilled workers needed 81 points.
International graduates through the Express Entry stream needed 90 points, while they needed 91 pints through the direct provincial stream.
Entry level and semi-skilled workers needed 80 points.
The previous largest BC immigration draw saw 409 candidates invited on September 19, 2018.

The previous B.C. draw targeted skilled and semi-skilled workers, plus international graduates, under the BC PNP Tech Pilot.
The pilot prioritizes 29 technology occupations through BC immigration’s existing streams.
The October 10, 2018 draw saw invitations to apply issued to 24 candidates.
International graduates in both the direct provincial and Express Entry-linked streams required 91 points to qualify.
Skilled workers through both streams needed 82 points, while entry level and semi-skilled workers needed 65 points.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended into 2019 after its initial launch in 2017. It currently has a list of 29 target occupations with relaxed duration requirements.
B.C. PNP draws aimed specifically at technology workers started in May 2017. The province has a thriving technology industry with some big names of the tech world basing themselves in Canada’s westernmost province.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
The B.C. PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.
The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.
For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
