Alberta has issued 767 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination across two Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) draws held on August 14 and August 19, 2026.
The bulk of the invitations went to the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the program’s main pathway for workers already employed in the province. The second round targeted health care candidates outside Express Entry through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway.

Alberta Opportunity Stream Round Drives the Total
The August 14 Alberta Opportunity Stream round issued 743 invitations at a minimum score of 58. The stream remains the AAIP’s highest-volume pathway, and the round follows a July 15 draw that invited 833 candidates at a cut-off of 53. The five-point increase points to a deeper pool of competitive candidates: 22,648 of the 36,255 profiles currently sitting in Alberta’s worker expression of interest pool identified the Alberta Opportunity Stream as their stream of interest.
Health Care Cut-Off Rises to 60
The August 19 round under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway – non-Express Entry issued 24 invitations at a minimum score of 60. That is a sharp increase from the July 14 round of the same pathway, which invited 51 candidates at a cut-off of 52. The non-Express Entry stream serves health care workers who are not eligible for, or have not created, an Express Entry profile.
Where Alberta’s 2026 Allocation Stands
As of the program’s August 19, 2026 update, Alberta had issued 4,560 nominations against a 2026 allocation of 6,603, leaving 2,043 nomination spaces for the remainder of the year, with 1,335 applications still to be processed.

Alberta has also used 62 of the additional federal immigration spaces set aside for practice-ready physicians and Francophone candidates — 50 for physicians and 12 for Francophones. Nominations issued under that initiative do not count against Alberta’s own 6,603-space allocation.
The worker EOI pool held 36,255 profiles eligible for selection at the time of the update, including 22,648 for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, 5,012 for priority sector draws and other initiatives, 3,437 for Tourism and Hospitality, 2,102 for the Accelerated Tech Pathway, 1,735 for Rural Renewal, 1,273 for the Dedicated Health Care Pathways and 48 for the Law Enforcement Pathway.
AAIP draws are not held on a fixed schedule. The program conducts them as needed to address sector needs and provincial priorities, and does not disclose draw parameters beyond the minimum score and invitation count.
