Alberta’s 2026 immigration priorities
In 2026, the AAIP is prioritizing draws and nominations within its worker streams for occupations in key sectors including health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, and agriculture, as well as communities designated under the Rural Renewal Stream. AAIP draws are not held on a fixed schedule; they are conducted as needed to address sector needs and provincial priorities.
Alberta has a nomination allocation of 6,403 for 2026. As of the program’s June 3, 2026 update, the province had issued 2,587 nominations, leaving 3,816 nomination spaces remaining for the rest of the year. The Alberta Express Entry Stream’s priority-sector pathway alone had 4,577 candidates in its selection pool.
Candidates are selected from the AAIP’s Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) pool. Alberta notes that an EOI score is not the only factor it considers; the program weighs a range of information provided in each EOI to meet its priorities, and it does not publish detailed draw parameters in advance. Full draw details are published on the Government of Alberta’s AAIP processing information page.
