In March and April 2025, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted several targeted draws to address labour shortages in the province’s critical sectors, notably healthcare and aviation. These draws reflect Alberta’s strategic approach to attracting skilled professionals essential for its economic growth.
Dedicated Healthcare Pathway – Non-Express Entry
The AAIP held three draws under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway (non-Express Entry) in April 2025:
- April 8: 28 candidates invited with a minimum score of 53
- April 4: 19 candidates invited with a minimum score of 71
- April 1: 34 candidates invited with a minimum score of 60
This pathway is designed for healthcare professionals who have a valid job offer in Alberta but do not qualify for the Express Entry stream. Eligible occupations include physicians, nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, and physician assistants.

Aviation Sector Draws
In March 2025, Alberta focused on attracting aviation professionals through two separate draws.
- March 7: Under the Alberta Opportunity Stream, 16 candidates were invited with a minimum score of 56 .
- March 6: Through the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Aviation), 13 candidates received invitations with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 53 .
