January 10, 2019 – British Columbia immigration has conducted its second draw of 2019, this time targeting technology workers through the BC PNP Tech Pilot.
As other provinces are taking stock of their provincial nomination programs, B.C. has continued seamlessly into 2019 with its weekly British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program draws.
The latest draw, dated January 9, saw 35 invitations issued through four streams.
Both streams for skilled workers – direct provincial and Express Entry – required a minimum score of 85 points.
For international graduates, a minimum score of 95 points were required for both streams.

A minimum score of 85 was required for skilled workers through both the direct provincial and Express Entry streams.
International graduates through both streams required 95 points, while entry level and semi-skilled candidates needed 68 points.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended into 2019 after its initial launch in 2017. It currently has a list of 29 target occupations with relaxed duration requirements.
B.C. PNP draws aimed specifically at technology workers started in May 2017. The province has a thriving technology industry with some big names of the tech world basing themselves in Canada’s westernmost province.

- Job offer must be valid for at least 120 days at time of application

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
The B.C. PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.
The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.
For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
