The amendments prescribe the role of the call centre agents. Call centre agents must:
- Respond to general enquiries on conditional permanent residence including:
- What the condition is
- To whom it applies
- The exceptions i.e. based on the death of the sponsor or of incidents of abuse or neglect and,
- The consequences of non-compliance
- Provide information to permanent residents, subject to the condition, on:
- How they could request for an exemption from the condition
- The type of supporting evidence the permanent residents could submit
- Collect and assimilate as much information as possible in case there are allegations of abuse or neglect. This would help the call centre agents to:
- Assist the local CIC office, which would contact the sponsored person for scheduling an interview in a safe, secure and confidential manner
