The Citizenship officers also have various roles to fulfil. They need to:
- Ensure that the applicant meets all the citizenship requirements in order to become a Canadian citizen. This includes the need to be a permanent resident.
- Notify the local CIC office (the immigration section) or the CBSA office, in case they become aware about the existence of various outstanding conditions
- Resume the processing of the citizenship application once they receive a confirmation from the local CIC office (the immigration section) or the CBSA office that neither of the two bodies would initiate any enforcement action
