The CIC officer also has various duties to discharge. These include:
- Determining whether the condition applies when assessing applications for permanent residence
- Issuing a Confirmation of Permanent Residence with a condition (if applicable) and, notifying applicants that they remain subject to the condition as per R72.1
- Evaluating requests for exceptions to the application of the condition in a timely manner so that it does not compromise:
- The safety of the individuals concerned and,
- The confidential nature of the matter
- Using the Global Case Management System (GCMS) for tracking investigations about:
- A relationship of convenience or,
- Requests for an exception to the conditional permanent residence
