The Divorce Certificate and the Legal Separation Agreement
Purpose: For validating the marital status claims of the applicant
Document Requirements:
- The applicant would need to provide this document only if:
- The applicant indicates a marital status of being divorced
- If the divorce takes place in Canada, the applicant would need to provide a copy of the divorce order or the certificate of divorce issued by the province or the territory where the divorce took place
- If the divorce takes place outside Canada, the applicant would need to provide a copy of a legal certificate issued by the country, the territory or the region where the divorce took place
The Individuals who would need to submit this documentation:
- The principal applicant
- Their spouse or common-law partner
