- The condition terminates two years after the day on which the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident
- The GCMS would automatically remove the tracking of the condition, once the conditional period ends
- This would not take place in cases that are currently under investigation
- The conditional permanent residence for these individuals does not differ from the conventional permanent residence in any other way
- The only difference is that the sponsored spouse or partner must meet the condition specified i.e. they must cohabit in a conjugal relationship with their sponsor for a period of two years after the day on which they became a permanent resident
- Situations could arise where:
- The officers complete the investigation and,
- Obtain insufficient evidence of non-compliance with the condition
- In this case, the CIC officers would:
- Document the results in the GCMS
- Update the system and,
- Issue a letter, if applicable
