{"id":98102,"date":"2022-04-08T10:56:33","date_gmt":"2022-04-08T14:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/international-students-say-canada-is-best-country-for-university-or-college-education"},"modified":"2022-04-08T10:56:33","modified_gmt":"2022-04-08T14:56:33","slug":"international-students-say-canada-is-best-country-for-university-or-college-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/international-students-say-canada-is-best-country-for-university-or-college-education\/","title":{"rendered":"International Students Say Canada Is Best Country For University Or College Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Canada is the best country in the world when it comes to getting a college or university education, say international students surveyed by IDP Connect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Australia-based, global education services provider\u2019s latest <i>Emerging Futures<\/i> report shows international students prefer Canada over the United States, United Kingdom and Australia by a wide margin.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/international-students-in-new-brunswick-benefit-from-2-new-centres-of-excellence\">International students In New Brunswick Benefit From 2 New Centres Of Excellence<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-to-develop-permanent-immigration-pathway-for-international-students\"><span class=\"s3\">Canada To Develop Permanent Immigration Pathway For International Students<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/international-students-in-canada-earn-more-than-other-newcomers-2-years-after-immigrating\"><span class=\"s3\">International Students in Canada Earn More Than Other Newcomers 2 Years After Immigrating<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">International students told IDP that Canada was their first choice of destination for their higher education in 27 per cent of cases.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That compares to only 20 per cent who favoured the United States, and 19 per cent for each of the United Kingdom and Australia.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">CANADA\u2019S OPEN IMMIGRATION POLICIES MAKE IT MORE POPULAR WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">That means Canada is 35 per cent more popular a destination for international students than the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The next most-popular countries were New Zealand and China, each of which was picked by only four per cent of international students.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Canada\u2019s open-door policy to immigration was a big part of the country\u2019s appeal to international students.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Watch Video<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5bOXWh4ysqU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">The report, released late last month, shows international students see Canada as top because of its concern for the welfare of international students, post-study work visa policies and graduate employment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCareer development was a key motivating factor for three out of four respondents, 74 per cent, who prefer to study in Canada,\u201d notes the report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">International students who come to Canada under a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visa-etudiant-canada\"><span class=\"s3\">Study Permit<\/span><\/a> can later apply for a <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/post-graduation-work-permit\"><span class=\"s3\">Post-Graduation Work Permit<\/span><\/a>, and eventually apply for permanent residence through the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-express-entry-immigration\"><span class=\"s3\">Express Entry<\/span><\/a> system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Canada\u00a0welcomes more than 350,000 international students every year. To be eligible to study in\u00a0Canada\u00a0these students must demonstrate that they:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">have been accepted by a school, college, university or other educational institution in\u00a0Canada;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">have enough money to pay for their tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">are law-abiding citizens with no criminal records;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">are in good health and willing to complete a medical examination, and;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">can satisfy an immigration officer that they will leave\u00a0Canada\u00a0at the end of their authorized stays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CAN WORK ON CANADIAN CAMPUSES WITHOUT A WORK PERMIT<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Once issued a study permit, these students can work in\u00a0Canada\u00a0under the following categories:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">on campus without a work permit;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">off campus with a work permit;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">in co-op and internship programs, where work experience is part of the curriculum, with a work permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Upon graduation, a foreign\u00a0student\u00a0may apply for a PGWP which is usually issued for the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The valuable work experience gained while an international grad works in\u00a0Canada\u00a0under\u00a0the PGWP can count towards a permanent residence application through\u00a0Canada\u00a0Express Entry system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/comprehensive-ranking-system-crs\"><span class=\"s3\">Comprehensive Ranking System<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(CRS) used by Express Entry system programs, applicants for immigration are assigned points based on:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Skills;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Work experience;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Language ability;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Language ability and education of the applicant\u2019s spouse or common-law partner;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Possession of a job offer supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Possession of a provincial government nomination for permanent residence, and;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Certain combinations of language skills, education and work experience result in a higher chance of the applicant becoming employed (skill transferability).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canada is the best country in the world when it comes to getting a college or university education, say international students surveyed by IDP Connect.
