The federal government makes the final decision to approve applications.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ontario-deploys-internationally-trained-nurses-in-fight-against-covid-19\">Ontario Deploys Internationally-Trained Nurses In Fight Against COVID-19<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-immigrant-wages-rise-as-labour-shortages-lead-employers-to-pay-more\"><span class=\"s1\">Canada Immigrant Wages Rise As Labour Shortages Lead Employers To Pay More<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/how-you-could-immigrate-to-canada-through-the-start-up-visa-in-2022\"><span class=\"s1\">How You Could Immigrate To Canada Through The Start-Up Visa In 2022<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">In mid-May, the Canadian government announced it would allow Ontario to nominate 8,350 people under the OINP and another 250 nominations specifically for <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visa-de-travail-canadien-travailler-au-canada\"><span class=\"s1\">Temporary Foreign Workers<\/span><\/a> in intermediate-skilled occupations listed as Skill Level C under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When the province hit that target early, the federal government then allowed it to nominate another 400 candidates.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\" id=\"mcetoc_1fqbi0r8m1\">New Applications Fall Under 2022 Allocation<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">New applications, and applications already submitted to the OINP, continue to be accepted and considered under the program\u2019s 2022 nomination allocation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Applicants can check the status of their applications at any time through the OINP e-Filing portal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This year, Ontario kicked off 2022 with three <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ontario-expression-of-interest-system\"><span class=\"s1\">Expression of Interest<\/span><\/a> draws offering up a total of 1,084 invitations through its Employer Job Offer streams for Foreign Workers, International Students and In-Demand Skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Looking ahead, provincial Immigration Minister Monte McNaughton said Ontario intends to double the number of skilled immigrants coming to the province to resolve its acute labour shortages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOn Jan. 11, our government invited 1,084 newcomers to call Ontario home,\u201d tweeted the immigration minister.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cLast year, we invited 9,000 skilled immigrants for permanent residency, reaching our yearly limit. through its Foreign Worker stream, invited 264 candidates with a minimum score of 38 points on the OINP points grid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For the International Student stream, a general draw saw 762 invitations issued, with a minimum score of 59.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And, under the In-Demand Skills stream, a targeted draw saw 58 invitations issued to candidates scoring 11 points and above with skills and experience in the following health, manufacturing and agricultural occupations:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Health and Agricultural<\/p>\n<ul
