The IRCC says it is focusing on clearing the current significant backlog before it resumes issuing ITAs in even larger numbers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Canada has so far issued 3,580 invitations, all to PNP candidates, in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">IRCC issued a record 114,431 ITAs in 2021, all to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP candidates. It beat the previous record of 107,350 set in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">During the coronavirus crisis, IRCC switched to draws for PNP and CEC candidates, to focus on candidates already in Canada on work or study permits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The latest draw saw the tie-breaking rule implemented on Oct. 7, 2021 at 6:36:55 EST. If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this date and time received invitations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This was the fourth round of invitations under\u00a0Express Entry\u00a0in 2022 and\u00a0216<span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0overall.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p4\" id=\"mcetoc_1fs4520af0\">What Is Express Entry?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities (IRCC) on Jan. 1, 2015 which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/travailleurs-qualifies-vue-densemble\"><span class=\"s4\">Federal Skilled Worker Program<\/span><\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/programme-des-travailleurs-de-metiers-specialises\"><span class=\"s4\">Federal Skilled Trades Program\u00a0<\/span><\/a>the<span class=\"s5\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/categorie-de-lexperience-canadienne\"><span class=\"s4\">Canada Experience Class<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and parts of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/appercu-des-programmes-des-candidats-des-provinces\"><span class=\"s1\">Provincial Nomination Programs<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Stakeholders expect to see continued high numbers of invitations issued as Canada builds towards its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ottawa-boosts-immigration-beyond-record-breaking-level-with-latest-plan\"><span class=\"s1\">target of 431,645 new permanent residents in 2022<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0CRS scores remain difficult to predict with program-specific draws during the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With the coronavirus crisis striking in March 2020, Canada switched to program-specific draws aimed at Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program candidates.
