invitations to apply for immigration to Canada to skilled workers and entrepreneurs in its second draw of the year Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Feb. 17 draw saw invitations issued through the Labour Impact, Express Entry and Business Impact\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/immigration-ile-du-prince-edouard\"><span class=\"s1\">Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span>(PEI PNP) streams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The draw saw 117 invites issued to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates, while Business Impact class=\"p1\">PEI issued a total of 1,933 invites during 2021, compared to 1,955 in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Of the 2021 invites, 1,764 went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates, with the remaining 169 going to Business Impact candidates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">PEI\u2019s Express Entry category operates by considering candidates already in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/express-entry-immigration-2018\"><span class=\"s1\">federal Express Entry Pool<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span>for a provincial nomination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Such a nomination adds 600 points to a candidate\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/comprehensive-ranking-system-crs\"><span class=\"s1\">Comprehensive Ranking System<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span>(CRS) score and effectively guarantees an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/invitations-apply-permanent-residence-itas\"><span class=\"s1\">Invitation to Apply<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span>(ITA) for Canadian immigration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The PEI Express Entry Category features two pathways to Canadian permanent residence, one for candidates with a job offer and one for those without.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p7\" id=\"mcetoc_1fs6lt5180\"><strong>Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>1) Skilled Worker Stream<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This employer driven stream allows skilled workers with an employment offer in PEI to be nominated for Canadian Permanent residence if they meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>a full time employment offer from a Prince Edward Island business in an occupation classified as skill level \u201c0\u201d, \u201cA\u201d or \u201cB\u201d of the National Occupational Classification (NOC);<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>completion of a post-secondary education, with a minimum of 14 years of formal education;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>between 21 and 55 years of age;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>at least 2 years of full time work experience in the past 5 years;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>sufficient proficiency in English or French to occupy the employment offered;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>sufficient settlement funds;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>demonstrated intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>2) Critical Worker Stream<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This category is designed to resolve labour shortages and is open to foreign workers already in PEI with employment in specific critical demand occupations. The primary criteria for nomination are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>A full time offer of employment from a Prince Edward Island business in one of the following occupations:\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s5\"><\/span>truck driver;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s5\"><\/span>customer service representative;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s5\"><\/span>labourer;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s5\"><\/span>food and beverage server;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s5\"><\/span>housekeeping attendant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>six months of work experience with the Prince Edward Island business offering employment;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>current valid Canadian work permit;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>high school diploma and minimum of 12 years of formal education;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>between 21 and 55 years of age;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>at least two years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>demonstrate basic proficiency in English or French language;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>sufficient settlement funds;<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s4\"><\/span>demonstrated intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p7\">Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\" id=\"mcetoc_1fs6lm6830\">Work Permit Stream<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Individuals applying under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/prince-edward-island-work-permit-business-immigration\"><span class=\"s1\">PEI Work Permit Stream<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span>must obtain a Canadian work permit and work for a PEI business for a certain amount of time as designated in a Performance Agreement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After the Performance Agreement is fulfilled, the applicant must make a minimum $150,000 investment in the business and commit to managing the business on a daily basis from within the province.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Previously, Prince Edward Island operated direct permanent residence business streams, but these were closed in September 2018 over immigration fraud concerns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p10\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Atlantic Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) sent out 123 invitations to apply for immigration to Canada to skilled workers and entrepreneurs in its second draw of the year Thursday.
