{"id":80643,"date":"2020-10-15T16:57:11","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T20:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/canada-renews-special-immigration-measures-for-families-of-ukraine-plane-disaster-victims"},"modified":"2021-05-16T23:31:36","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T03:31:36","slug":"canada-renews-special-immigration-measures-for-families-of-ukraine-plane-disaster-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-renews-special-immigration-measures-for-families-of-ukraine-plane-disaster-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Renews Special Immigration Measures For Families Of Ukraine Plane Disaster Victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canada has renewed special immigration measures for foreign national family members of victims of the Ukraine plane disaster.<\/p>\n<p>The measures are aimed at foreign nationals unable to leave Canada because of border closures related to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Those who qualify are able to extend their stay in Canada and will be exempt from paying the usual fees.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 176 passengers and crew that died when Iran mistakenly shot down Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 on January 8, 63 were Canadian.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-says-no-plans-grant-visa-free-travel-ukrainians\">Canada Says No Plans to Grant Visa-Free Travel to Ukrainians<\/a><\/span><span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/lebanon-explosions-special-canada-immigration-measures-introduced\">Lebanon Explosions: Special Canada Immigration Measures Introduced<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"mcetoc_1ekn0he5k0\">Who Qualifies?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span>Holders of a <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/temporary-resident-permits-trps-processing-eligibility-assessment\"><span>Temporary Resident Permit<\/span><\/a> (TRP) or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) that will expire before January 16, 2021.<\/li>\n<li><span><\/span>Members of the family of a victim of Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752.<\/li>\n<li><span><\/span>Candidates have until January 16, 2021 to have their TRV or visitor record extended or restored at no cost.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"mcetoc_1ekn0hfht1\">What Fees Are Waived?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span><\/span>TRP extension ($200)<\/li>\n<li><span><\/span>Restoration of temporary resident status ($200)<\/li>\n<li><span><\/span>Extension of authorization to remain in Canada as a temporary resident ($100)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"mcetoc_1ekn0hgum2\">How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Candidates who received a valid TRV or status document (visitor record) between January 10 and June 30, 2020, under the previous measures, can apply for an extension of their status.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must submit an application before their current status expires.
