Canada has conducted a new Express Entry<\/a> draw, issuing 529 Invitations to Apply<\/a> (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n

The May 13 draw, announced on May 14, saw a minimum\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System<\/a>\u00a0(CRS) score of 718, compared to\u00a0692 in the previous Provincial Nominee Program<\/a> (PNP)<\/a> draw.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new draw represents a continuation of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada\u2019s (IRCC\u2019s) policy of targeting PNP and Canadian Experience Class since COVID-19 travel restrictions were put in place on March 18.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Candidates in the two categories are more likely to already be in Canada than those coming through other Express Entry-linked programs, meaning they will not be affected by travel restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since March 18, Canada has conducted nine draws, four targeting PNP candidates and three targeting CEC candidates. It has issued 16,149 ITAs, including 2,530 to PNP candidates and 13,619 to CEC candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n

Canada has now issued 34,829 ITAs so far in 2020, after issuing a total of 85,300 in 2019. IRCC broke the record for annual Express Entry ITAs in 2018 with 89,800.<\/span><\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s high-skilled immigration admission target for 2020 is 85,800, up from 81,400 in 2019. However it is likely that permanent resident admissions will be affected by the COVID-19 crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The latest draw saw the tie-breaking rule implemented on March 19, 2020 at 9.53am EST. If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this date and time received invitations.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was the 14th round of invitations under\u00a0Express Entry<\/a>\u00a0in 2020 and\u00a0147th<\/sup>\u00a0overall<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Express Entry?<\/h3>\n

Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities (IRCC) on January 1, 2015 which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the\u00a0Federal Skilled Worker Program<\/a>, the\u00a0Federal Skilled Trades Program\u00a0<\/a>the\u00a0Canada Experience Class<\/a>\u00a0and parts of the\u00a0Provincial Nomination Programs<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stakeholders expect to see near 30 draws and more than 80,000 invitations issued in 2020, with a majority of draws featuring CRS scores around\u00a0470\u00a0to enable Canadian immigration authorities to meet targeted\u00a0annual immigration levels for 20<\/a><\/span>20<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
