2020-02-25 – British Columbia immigration has announced it will stop publishing scores for guaranteed Invitations to Apply through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, the province says candidates can see the scores required by viewing the draw details published each week<\/a> since 2016 when it launched its version of Expression of interest immigration.<\/p>\n

Previously, the province had published a list of scores that would guarantee an ITA through one of five streams:<\/p>\n

  1. Express Entry BC \u2013 Skilled Worker<\/li>\n
  2. Express Entry BC \u2013 International Graduate<\/li>\n
  3. Skills Immigration \u2013 Skilled Worker<\/li>\n
  4. Skills Immigration \u2013 International Graduate<\/li>\n
  5. Skills Immigration \u2013 Entry Level and Semi-Skilled<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A BC PNP statement said: \u201cIn the past, a guaranteed invitation score for each category was posted (subject to change) to illustrate the minimum points that an individual would need to be guaranteed an invitation to apply.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThe points were based on a sampling of pre-2016 BC PNP applications.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span>\u201cSince 2016, we have posted the scores for each draw. Applicants are able to view current and historical invitation to apply scores on our website which we will continue to update.\u201d<\/p>\n

    The most recent list of scores for a guaranteed invitation ranged from 95 for the entry-level stream, up to 135 for the skilled worker streams.<\/p>\n

    Recent British Columbia draws have featured minimum scores well below those required for a guaranteed invitation.<\/p>\n

    British Columbia also operates the successful BC PNP Tech Pilot<\/a>. It currently has a list of 29 target occupations which qualify for priority processing.<\/p>\n

    BC PNP draws aimed specifically at technology workers started in May 2017. The province has a thriving technology industry with some big names of the tech world basing themselves in Canada\u2019s westernmost province.<\/p>\n
