{"id":75107,"date":"2020-02-06T15:34:53","date_gmt":"2020-02-06T20:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/vernon-british-columbia-launches-application-process-for-rural-and-northern-immigration-pilot"},"modified":"2020-04-29T16:46:41","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T20:46:41","slug":"vernon-british-columbia-launches-application-process-for-rural-and-northern-immigration-pilot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/vernon-british-columbia-launches-application-process-for-rural-and-northern-immigration-pilot\/","title":{"rendered":"Vernon, British Columbia Launches Application Process For Rural And Northern Immigration Pilot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2020-02-06 &#8211; The city of Vernon in British Columbia has become the latest to launch its website for the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/rural-and-northern-immigration-pilot\">Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Applications from candidates who meet both federal and community criteria are being accepted as of February 1, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Vernon is the fifth community to launch activity through the RNIP, after Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay in Ontario, and the Manitoba cities of Brandon and Altona\/Rhineland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe community will utilize this program to continue to strengthen our local economy and support the development of our workforce,\u201d the Vernon website says.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the federal requirements (listed below), Vernon lists specific candidate requirements, as well as its own version of the Comprehensive Ranking System, similar to the federal Express Entry system.<\/p>\n<h3>Vernon Community-Specific Candidate Requirements<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 or higher, in English or French, for all skill levels.<\/li>\n<li>Have completed a profile on the RNIP Vernon website.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Vernon Comprehensive Ranking System (VCRS) allows candidates to score up to 100 points on a range of factors including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Language<\/li>\n<li>Family connections in Vernon<\/li>\n<li>Previous travel, time spent and property owned in Vernon<\/li>\n<li>Work or study experience in Vernon,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>General work experience,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Spouse or partner\u2019s work experience,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Age,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Wage offered,<\/li>\n<li>Whether they hold a driver\u2019s licence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vernon has an annual allocation of 100 recommendations for candidates through the RNIP.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of candidates must have a job offer with wages of at least $25 per hour to qualify. However, 10 percent of recommendations with be exempt from this requirement, provided the wage offered is between $20 and $24.99 per hour, and they score a minimum of 65 points on the VCRS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApplicants who are currently working, studying, and\/or residing for at least the last 12 months in the community will be exempt from the community-specific wage criteria,\u201d the Vernon website says.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>RNIP Federal Government Eligibility Requirements<\/h3>\n<p><b>1) Work Experience\/International Student Exemption<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must have qualifying work experience or have graduated from a publicly-funded post-secondary institution in the recommending community.<\/p>\n<p><b>Work Experience<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must have one year of continuous full or part-time work experience (1,560 hours) in the last three years.\u00a0\u00a0The work experience must be in one occupation and must include most of the main duties and all of the essential duties listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).<\/p>\n<p><b>International Students<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Candidate who are international students are exempt from needing work experience provided they meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<p><b>Scenario 1<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They graduated with a credential from a minimum two-year-long post-secondary program in the recommending community.<\/li>\n<li>They were studying as a full-time student for the full duration of the two or more years.<\/li>\n<li>They received the credential no more than 18 months before the date of application for permanent residence.<\/li>\n<li>They were in the community for at least 16 of the last 24 months spent studying to get the credential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Scenario 2<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They graduate with a master\u2019s degree or higher<\/li>\n<li>They studied as a full-time student for the duration of the degree in the recommending community.<\/li>\n<li>They received the degree no more than 18 months before the date of application for permanent residence.<\/li>\n<li>They were in the community for the length of their studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>2) Language Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must meet the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) or Niveaux de comp\u00e9tence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) based on the National Occupational Classification of their job.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum language requirements for each NOC category are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NOC 0 and A: CLB\/NCLC 6<\/li>\n<li>NOC B: CLB\/NCLC 5<\/li>\n<li>NOC C and D: CLB\/NCLC 4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>3) Educational Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must have a Canadian high school diploma or an equivalent foreign credential with an accredited educational credential assessment (ECA) report.<\/p>\n<p><b>4) Settlement Funds<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must prove they have enough money to support themselves and family members while they get settled in their community.
