{"id":74937,"date":"2020-01-30T21:57:26","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T02:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/british-columbia-introduces-new-entrepreneur-immigration-language-requirement-2"},"modified":"2020-01-30T21:58:15","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T02:58:15","slug":"british-columbia-introduces-new-entrepreneur-immigration-language-requirement-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-introduces-new-entrepreneur-immigration-language-requirement-2\/","title":{"rendered":"British Columbia Introduces New Entrepreneur Immigration Language Requirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British Columbia immigration has moved to introduced a new language requirement for its <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/british-columbia-business-immigration\">Entrepreneur Immigration<\/a> category.<\/p>\n<p>As of January 29, 2020, candidates require Canadian Language Benchmark Level 4 in English or French to qualify for the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/british-columbia-immigration\/\">British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program<\/a> stream.<\/p>\n<p>The requirement has to be met by the nomination stage of the process, meaning candidates come to the province on a work permit and have the chance to improve their language skills.<\/p>\n<p>The change is designed to make applicants to the program more likely to succeed in the Canadian economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResearch shows that proficiency in one of Canada\u2019s official languages has a significant impact on the economic and social integration of immigrants into their new country,\u201d a BC PNP statement said.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Entrepreneur Immigration Eligibility Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The personal net worth of a minimum of $600,000, legally obtained.<\/li>\n<li>Invest minimum $200,000 in an eligible new business or to purchase and improve an existing business in BC.<\/li>\n<li>Create at least one new full-time job in your business for a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.<\/li>\n<li>Canadian Language Benchmark Level 4 In English or French in each of the four competencies: listening, speaking, reading and writing, BY THE TIME OF NOMINATION.<\/li>\n<li>Suitable business and\/or management experience.<\/li>\n<li>Have, or be eligible for, legal temporary immigration status in Canada.<\/li>\n<li>Have been lawfully admitted to the country where you currently reside.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Meanwhile, British Columbia has also moved to remove the key staff option under the Entrepreneur Immigration \u2013 Base Category.<\/p>\n<p>As of January 29, key staff can no longer be included in applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis change will allow the principal applicant to be more involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, increasing the interaction with suppliers and customers, which will help in improving language proficiency,\u201d a BC PNP statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The changes are for new applications only.
