What Are My Canada Immigration Options?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Aug 28, 2019 &#8211; While the Federal <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/express-entry-immigration-2018\"><span class=\"s2\">Express Entry<\/span><\/a> system remains the foremost option for economic immigrants to Canada, there are a network of other pathways to permanent residence for skilled workers <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-provincial-nominee-immigration-programs-overview\"><span class=\"s2\">via provincial programs<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Minimum <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/comprehensive-ranking-system-crs\"><span class=\"s2\">Comprehensive Ranking System<\/span><\/a> scores for all-program <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/express-entry-immigration-draws\"><span class=\"s2\">Express Entry draws<\/span><\/a> have been 450 or above since January 30. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Those with scores below that mark can either wait patiently for the score to drop, or be proactive about exploring other options for achieving permanent residence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Canada\u2019s provincial programs are expected to welcome 61,000 newcomers in 2019, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-to-welcome-350000-immigrants-annually-by-2021\/\"><span class=\"s2\">federal government immigration levels plan<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That compares with a target of 81,400 in the federal high skilled stream, through Express Entry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">By focusing only on Express Entry, economic immigration candidates are cutting themselves off a swathe of opportunities for permanent residence.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Canada\u2019s Provincial Programs<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/alberta-immigration\"><span class=\"s4\">Alberta<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/british-columbia-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s4\">British Columbia<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/manitoba-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Manitoba<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/new-brunswick-immigration\"><span class=\"s4\">New Brunswick<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/newfoundland-immigration\"><span class=\"s4\">Newfoundland<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/nova-scotia-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Nova Scotia<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ontario-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Ontario<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/prince-edward-island-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Prince Edward Island<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/saskatchewan-immigration\"><span class=\"s4\">Saskatchewan<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1) Consider One of Canada\u2019s Provincial Programs<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">All of Canada\u2019s provinces apart from <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-immigration-overview\"><span class=\"s2\">Quebec<\/span><\/a> operate Express Entry-linked streams, some with minimum CRS scores significantly below the federal draws and others that do not require any minimum score.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/alberta-immigration\">Alberta<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\">, for example, has conducted four draws this year featuring a 300 minimum CRS, and a further five with minimum scores ranging from 301 to 303.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Candidates with scores in the range of 300 to 303 essentially have no chance of receiving an ITA via a federal government draw.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">CRS scores for <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ontario-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Ontario\u2019s Human Capital Priorities stream<\/span><\/a> have dropped as low as 435 as recently as August 1. Other Ontario Express Entry-linked streams, for French Speaking Skilled Workers and Skilled Trades, have no minimum score requirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With a provincial nomination in hand, these candidates receive 600 points towards their total, guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry draw.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/british-columbia-immigration\/\">British Columbia<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> is Canada\u2019s most prolific province in terms of the number of draws it conducts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A total of skilled worker 34 draws have been conducted through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program in 2019, nearly double the 17 Express Entry draws conducted by the federal government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/manitoba-immigration\/\">Manitoba<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> and <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/saskatchewan-immigration\"><span class=\"s2\">Saskatchewan<\/span><\/a> also both conduct regular, large draws targeted at the Express Entry system, and for direct provincial streams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Several of Canada\u2019s provinces also have extensive lists of target occupations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While a candidate\u2019s credentials may no be in demand through federal programs, that is not to say it will not be in one of the provinces.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">2) Come To Canada On A Work Permit, Then Apply For Permanent Residence<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Even those candidates unable to find a direct route to permanent residence have not exhausted all of their options.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The two-stage pathway of coming to Canada on a <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-work-visa\"><span class=\"s2\">work permit<\/span><\/a> and then applying for permanent residence using the accrued experience is increasingly popular.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you are a candidate looking for a Canada job, or an employer looking to recruit foreign talent from abroad, immigration.ca can help.
