The latest figures show it has nearly 121,000 unfilled positions and a record-low unemployment rate of 4.9 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a result, employers are <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-sees-sharp-rise-in-temporary-workers-as-provincial-government-cuts-immigration\"><span class=\"s2\">turning to TFWs for their recruitment needs<\/span><\/a>. The number of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-lmia-application-process\/\"><span class=\"s2\">work permits issued for Quebec<\/span><\/a>\u00a0rose by 36 per cent in 2018, with 17,685 permits issued during the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Figures show the rise is continuing in 2019 with 21 per cent more permits issued in the first quarter compared to the previous year.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Read More<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-government-immigration-plan-backfires-as-fewer-french-speaking-immigrants-accepted\">Quebec Government Immigration Plan Backfires as Fewer French-Speaking Immigrants Accepted<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s4\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-issues-950-invitations-in-first-expression-of-interest-draws\"><span class=\"s2\">Quebec Issues 950 Invitations In First Expression of Interest Draws<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-sees-sharp-rise-in-temporary-workers-as-provincial-government-cuts-immigration\"><span class=\"s2\">Quebec Sees Sharp Rise In Temporary Workers As Provincial Government Cuts Immigration<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-government-urged-to-increase-immigration-to-tackle-chronic-labour-shortage\"><span class=\"s2\">Quebec Government Urged To Increase Immigration To Tackle Chronic Labour Shortage<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The new funding, announced by Labour Minister Jean Boulet on August 26, includes $20.9 million in assistance for businesses looking to hire TFWs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The money will be spent in the following areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reimbursement of 50 per cent of costs for businesses taking part in a recruitment mission, up to $5,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reimbursement of 50 per cent of costs for international recruitment trips outside organized missions, for travel, accommodation and meals, up to $5,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Financial assistance for relocation of recruited workers, up to $1,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">TFWs and their spouses to have access to all public employment services.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A further $33.9 million is to be spent on the employment integration of immigrant workers, enhancing the province\u2019s Immigrant and Visible Minority Integration Program (PRIIME) and Internationally Trained Employment Integration Program (IPOP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The new funding will see employers hiring an immigrant or visible minority candidate receive a gross wage subsidy of 70 per cent, up from 50 per cent prior to the new cash injection. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00ab\u00a0To address the phenomenon of labor scarcity, the recruitment of temporary foreign workers is an option that more and more businesses are turning to,\u201d Boulet said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cYour government wants the inclusion of the greatest number of workers so that everyone has the opportunity to showcase their talents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>If you are a candidate looking for a Quebec job, or an employer looking to recruit foreign talent from abroad, immigration.ca can help.
