{"id":71629,"date":"2019-08-20T15:54:55","date_gmt":"2019-08-20T15:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/quebec-issues-950-invitations-in-first-expression-of-interest-draws"},"modified":"2020-02-06T23:53:59","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T04:53:59","slug":"quebec-issues-950-invitations-in-first-expression-of-interest-draws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/quebec-issues-950-invitations-in-first-expression-of-interest-draws\/","title":{"rendered":"Quebec Issues 950 Invitations In First Expression of Interest Draws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Aug 20, 2019 &#8211; Quebec\u2019s immigration ministry has published details of the first two draws made through its new <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-expression-of-interest\"><span class=\"s2\">Expression of Interest system<\/span><\/a>, known as Arrima.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Draws made on July 4 and July 17, 2019 saw a total of 950 invitations issued for full applications to be submitted to the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-skilled-worker-immigration\"><span class=\"s2\">Quebec Skilled Worker Program<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">These are the first invitations made by the Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion (MIDI) from the Expression of Interest Bank since the Arrima system was launched in August 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The two draws each had specific requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the <b>July 4<\/b> draw, 691 invites were issued to candidate who met the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Their application to the Quebec Skilled Worker Program under the old system was terminated as part of the governing Coalition Avenir Quebec\u2019s Bill 9.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They filed an Arrima Expression of Interest before December 17, 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They were in one of the following situations:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Their terminated application was submitted pursuant to section 5.01 of the Regulation respecting the selection of foreign nationals, <b>OR<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They were staying in Quebec on June 16, 2019 while holding a study or work permit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the <b>July 17<\/b> draw, 259 invites were issued to candidates who met the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They held a\u00a0validated job offer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They were in Quebec as a diplomatic agent, consular officer, representative or a duly accredited official of a foreign country or of the United Nations. A valid job offer is also an important factor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The qualifications of a candidate\u2019s spouse or partner are also considered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to the decision published on August 1<\/span><span class=\"s8\"><sup>st<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\">, 2018, the\u00a0<b>first category<\/b>\u00a0refers to candidates who:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Have a validated job offer outside the Metropolitan Community of Montreal;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Have a validated job offer in the Metropolitan Community of Montreal;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Are currently living in Quebec AND:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They have a post graduate work permit, obtained following the graduation from an eligible study program in Quebec (diploma attesting at least 900 hours of instruction, diploma of collegial studies attesting at least 12 months of full-time studies, undergraduate degree of at least 12 months of full-time studies, or graduate degrees such as masters, specialized graduate diplomas or PhDs); or<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They have a work permit with a validity of at least 12 months and they have worked in Quebec full-time for at least 6 months.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">These candidates are ranked based on the following criteria:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Age<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Level of education<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Diploma obtained in Quebec<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proficiency in French<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proficiency in other languages<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Work experience in Canada or in the United States<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Spouse\/common-law partner\u2019s qualifications: level of education and proficiency in the French language.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Transferability skills:<\/span>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Level of education with French proficiency (either the main applicant\u2019s or the spouse\u2019s, depending on which score is highest)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Level of education with French proficiency and work experience in Canada or US<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Foreign work experience with French proficiency<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Foreign work experience with French proficiency and work experience in Canada or US<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The second category refers to candidates who are not residing in Quebec. They are ranked on the following criteria:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Age<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Level of education<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Are of training in-demand, as published by the government<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Diploma obtained in Quebec<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proficiency in French<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Proficiency in other languages<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Work experience in Canada or in the United States<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Spouse\/common-law partner\u2019s qualifications: level of Under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Candidates selected to apply for a CSQ under the Quebec Skilled worker program must pass the threshold for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/quebec-skilled-workers-selection-factors-grid\/\"><span class=\"s2\">selection factors<\/span><\/a>, which is 50 points for a single candidate and 59
