{"id":35022,"date":"2017-05-28T04:09:35","date_gmt":"2017-05-28T04:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/ottawa-conducts-rare-express-entry-draws-skilled-trades-pnp-nominees\/"},"modified":"2017-05-28T04:11:52","modified_gmt":"2017-05-28T04:11:52","slug":"ottawa-conducts-rare-express-entry-draws-skilled-trades-pnp-nominees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/ottawa-conducts-rare-express-entry-draws-skilled-trades-pnp-nominees\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa Conducts Rare Express Entry Draws For Skilled Trades and PNP Nominees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 26, 2017 \u2013 Canadian Immigration authorities have taken the unprecedented step of conducting two Canada Express Entry <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/express-entry-immigration-draws\/\">draws<\/a> simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-35019 size-medium\" title=\"Ottawa Conducts Rare Express Entry Draws For Skilled Trades and PNP Nominees\" src=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ottawa-815375_640-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"Ottawa Conducts Rare Express Entry Draws For Skilled Trades and PNP Nominees\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ottawa-815375_640-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ottawa-815375_640-280x187.jpg 280w, https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ottawa-815375_640.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and 14<sup>th<\/sup> rounds of invitations in 2017, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/express-entry-immigration-draws\/\">63<sup>rd<\/sup> and 64<sup>th<\/sup> overall<\/a>, invited a total of 543 applicants for permanent residence.<\/p>\n<p>The 63<sup>rd<\/sup> draw saw 143 invites issued under Provincial Nominee Programs, with a lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 775.<\/p>\n<p>The 64<sup>th<\/sup> draw saw 400 invites issued under the Federal Skilled Trades Program, with a lowest CRS score of 199.<\/p>\n<p>The CRS score of 199 although less than half of the previous record for the lowest score, is unrelated to past draws.\u00a0 By aiming a draw specifically at the Federal Skilled Trades Program, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has opened a pathway to permanent residence for hundreds of candidates who would previously have had no chance to receive an invitation.\u00a0 Canadian employers face ongoing challenges to source skilled trades.\u00a0 Permanent residence is a valuable retention tool.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a draw aimed specifically at Provincial Nominee Program candidates has been seen before. These are the highest scoring candidates in the Express Entry Pool, due to the 600 points awarded for a provincial nomination.<\/p>\n<p>These were the 16<sup>th<\/sup> and 17<sup>th<\/sup> draws since immigration authorities substantially modified the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/express-entry-breaking-news-canada-eases-pathway-permanent-residence-foreign-workers-international-students\/\">November 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities (IRCC) on January 1, 2015 which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/skilled-worker-immigration-overview\/\">Federal Skilled Worker Program<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/federal-skilled-trades-program\/\">Skilled Trades Program<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/the-canada-experience-class-2\/\">Canada Experience Class<\/a>\u00a0and certain parts of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-provincial-nominee-immigration-programs-overview\/\">Provincial Nominee Programs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Stakeholders expect to see more than 15 draws and up to 50,000 invitations during the first six months of 2017, with CRS scores well below\u00a0450\u00a0to enable Canadian immigration authorities to meet targeted annual immigration levels for 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Read our 2016 Express Entry Year-End report,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-express-entry-2016-year-review\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>What this means for employers<\/h3>\n<p>Employers are encouraged to consider securing an LMIA or nomination under provincial nomination programs (PNPs) to ensure long term retention of employees.<\/p>\n<p>We provide Canadian employers with unparalleled immigration legal services and recruitment of foreign nationals through our in-house enterprise SkilledWorker (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.skilledworker.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">www.skilledworker.com<\/a>).
