\"RegularMay 19, 2017 – Skilled workers were again favoured in the British Columbia immigration office\u2019s latest BC PNP draw,<\/a> conducted on May 10, 2017.<\/p>\n

Of the total 364 invitations to apply issued, 192 of them went to skilled workers under both B.C.\u2019s Canada Express Entry and provincial-only categories.<\/p>\n

Following a shift towards international graduates at the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017, the province is now redressing the balance.<\/p>\n

There were still 125 invites for graduates under the latest B.C. draw, while 47 invites went to entry level and semi-skilled workers.<\/p>\n

The previous B.C. draw on April 19, 2017, saw an even split between skilled workers and graduates, with a smaller overall number of invites issued.<\/p>\n

Of a total 222 invites for British Columbia immigration<\/a>, 85 of them went to skilled workers and 75 to international graduates. Entry level and semi-skilled workers received 46 invites, with the final 16 going under the province\u2019s entrepreneur stream.<\/p>\n

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry<\/a> System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. Canada has not seen a draw with a minimum points score above 500 in the whole of 2017.<\/p>\n

The BC PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration<\/a> under its programs.<\/p>\n

The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.<\/p>\n

For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.<\/p>\n
