{"id":34464,"date":"2017-05-10T15:49:53","date_gmt":"2017-05-10T15:49:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/ontario-immigration-changes-acceptable-document-list\/"},"modified":"2020-02-07T00:16:32","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T05:16:32","slug":"ontario-immigration-changes-acceptable-document-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/ontario-immigration-changes-acceptable-document-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario Immigration Changes Acceptable Document List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May\u00a010, 2017 &#8211; The Ontario immigration office has changed the documents it accepts as proof of residency under its International Masters Graduate Stream.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-34462 size-medium\" title=\"Ontario Immigration Changes Acceptable Document List\" src=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shutterstock_1694013-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Ontario Immigration Changes Acceptable Document List\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shutterstock_1694013-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shutterstock_1694013-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shutterstock_1694013-249x187.jpg 249w, https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shutterstock_1694013-700x525.jpg 700w, https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shutterstock_1694013.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Credit card statements will no longer be accepted, according to a release from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).<\/p>\n<p>Under the stream applicants must prove they have lived in Ontario for a total of a year in the last two years.<\/p>\n<p>Suggested alternative documents, which must feature the applicant\u2019s full name and Ontario address, include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phone bills, car insurance, house\/apartment insurance, hydro or energy bills.<\/li>\n<li>Lease or leasing documents demonstrating residence.<\/li>\n<li>Pay stubs from an Ontario employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The International Masters Graduate Stream was opened for applications on May 1, 2017 and reached its limit the same day.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ontario-immigration\/\">Ontario immigration<\/a> office has opened the stream to applications in 2017. An <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/ontario-immigration\/\">OINP<\/a> statement said numbers would be monitored to determine if it will again be reopened.<\/p>\n<h3>To be eligible to apply for the\u00a0<b>Masters Graduate Stream<\/b>, you must meet the following criteria:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Graduated from a Master\u2019s degree program at a publicly funded Ontario university and have completed at least\u00a0one year full time.<\/li>\n<li>Have level 7 or above English or French.<\/li>\n<li>Lived in Ontario for at least\u00a0one year in the last two.<\/li>\n<li>Have sufficient settlement funds.<\/li>\n<li>Intend to live and work in Ontario.<\/li>\n<li>Must either legally live in Ontario or live abroad. Applications from elsewhere in Canada will not be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Application must be within two years of date on master\u2019s degree certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Meanwhile, the International PhD Graduate Stream remains open for applications.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible to apply for the\u00a0<b>PhD Graduate Stream<\/b>, you must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Graduated from a PhD degree program at a publicly funded Ontario university and have completed at least\u00a0two years of study.<\/li>\n<li>Intend to live and work in Ontario.<\/li>\n<li>Must legally live in Canada if applying from within.
