You can access it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.pe.ca\/forms\/pdf\/2889.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is no application fee and a candidate\u2019s completion of the form is viewed as an expression of interest in immigrating to PEI.<\/p>\n<p>Provincial officials say they will only contact candidates deemed worth pursuing.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Edward Island has provided a shining example to the rest of Atlantic Canada that it is possible to turn around an aging population through immigration.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s smallest province has boosted its population of under 45-year-olds to 76,516 in 2016, greater than 2013 levels and significantly more than 2015 numbers.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"img405\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Population Under 45 in Prince Edward Island\" src=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/images\/graphs\/Population-Under-45-in-Prince-Edward-Island.png\" width=\"530\" height=\"291\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Source: Statistics Canada<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>It is one of only two Atlantic provinces (the other being Nova Scotia), to have a greater 2016 population of under-45s than 2015, as immigration policies aimed at countering its aging population and shrinking labour force start to take hold.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Prince Edward Island announced recently it is increasing its <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/university-prince-edward-island-targets-international-students\/\">international student recruitment efforts<\/a> following significant success in growing its cohort from overseas.<\/p>\n<p>With numbers of Canadian-born undergraduates dropping off in recent years, the school now relies on students from abroad to drive growth in enrollment numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The latest figures from 2015 show 17 per cent of the overall student population is from overseas \u2013 or 748 out of total enrollment of 4,317.<\/p>\n<p>Atlantic Canada\u2019s provincial premiers and the federal government jointly announced recently an initiative to welcome\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/2000-new-pnp-immigrants-coming-atlantic-canada\/\">2,000 more skilled immigrants<\/a>\u00a0under their Provincial Nominee Programs from 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The move will see an almost 50 per cent rise in the number of candidates welcomed to New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland &amp; Labrador.<\/p>\n<p>Those numbers could increase in 2018 and 2019 if the expansion is viewed as a success.<\/p>\n<p>The new immigrants are expected to be chosen based on the skills required by the respective provinces.<\/p>\n<p>It is part of a new Atlantic Growth Strategy, aimed at boosting the economy in eastern Canada in five priority areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Skilled workforce and immigration<\/li>\n<li>Innovation<\/li>\n<li>Clean growth and climate change<\/li>\n<li>Trade and investment<\/li>\n<li>Infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Interested employers:\u00a0<\/strong>Kindly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-employers\/\">contact us<\/a>\u00a0here to receive further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested candidates:<\/strong>\u00a0Find out whether you qualify to Canada by completing our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/free-immigration-evaluation-forms\/\">free on-line evaluation<\/a>.
