According to Ottawa, 960,000 people made use of it to come to Canada before it stopped taking applicants last July.<\/p>\n<p>Almost 250,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Canada till now, as per CBC. Thousands are expected to come before March 31, which is the deadline for visa recipients to come.<\/p>\n<p>Those living in Canada and wishing to extend their stay need to apply for it by the same deadline, without which they would lose government support services, including financial support and language courses.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-immigration-starts-off-strong-in-2024\/\">Canada Immigration Starts Off Strong In 2024<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/manitoba-issues-104-canada-immigration-invitations-in-new-pnp-draw\/\">Manitoba Issues 104 Canada Immigration Invitations In New PNP Draw<\/a><b>\u00a0<\/b><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/nova-scotias-international-student-visa-allowance-reduced-by-a-third\/\">Nova Scotia\u2019s International Student Visa Allowance Reduced By A Third<\/a><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This could make it harder for them to stay and work in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Other options to continue their stay would be to apply for a work\/study permit, which is a longer and trickier process overall.<\/p>\n<p>To apply, one has to meet the following eligibility criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a Ukrainian national<\/li>\n<li>Be a family member of Ukrainian nationals (can be any nationality)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Watch Video<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JYj8rXWi4eU?si=oN9ppWNq0kNsKC_Y\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Family members are defined as<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the spouse or common-law partner of a Ukrainian national<\/li>\n<li>their dependent child<\/li>\n<li>the dependent child of their spouse \/ common-law partner or<\/li>\n<li>a dependent child of their dependent child<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Hotline To Help Ukrainians With Legal Services<\/h3>\n<p>This year, Ottawa upped its offering of help to Ukrainians by pumping $475,788 into a trilingual hotline to help them access the legal services they need for the coming three years.<\/p>\n<p>The money was for Pro Bono Ontario\u2019s Ukrainian Refugee Legal Relief Initiative to allow displaced Ukrainians access to legal information and advice, including the toll-free hotline that is accessible nationally and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The hotline provides Ukrainians in Canada with access to Canadian lawyers so they can ask immigration-related questions on such things as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/apercu-de-limmigration-de-parrainage-familial\/\">sponsorship<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/protection-des-refugies\/\">refugee<\/a>\u00a0claims and work permits or be referred to provincial pro bono organizations or community groups across Canada<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur government is grateful to be able to count on organizations, such as Pro Bono Ontario, that improve access to justice, a fundamental Canadian value and an integral part of a fair and effective justice system,\u201d said Justice Minister Arif Virani.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis investment shows how our government continues to stand with\u00a0Ukraine, and that we will continue to support Ukrainians forced to flee their homes because of Russia\u2019s illegal invasion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0CUAET\u00a0no longer taking applications from overseas, Ukrainians wishing to come to Canada from abroad can still apply for a visa or a work or study permit through the IRCC\u2019s existing temporary resident programs but are now subject to fees and standard requirements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands more Ukrainians are expected to come to the West Canadian province of British Columbia before the expiration of the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET).
