industry are being given priority processing for their applications as that westernmost Canadian province seeks to build up its stock of available housing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTargeted invitations to apply will be issued to workers in select construction occupations who also have a valid B.C. trades qualification,\u201d reports the province\u2019s ministry of municipal affairs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis requirement will ensure that construction workers nominated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/immigration-colombie-britannique\/\">British\u00a0Columbia\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(BCPNP) are ready to contribute immediately to B.C.\u2019s sheet metal workers<\/li>\n<li>72103 boilermakers<\/li>\n<li>72104 structural metal and platework fabricators and fitters<\/li>\n<li>72105 ironworkers<\/li>\n<li>72106 welders and related machine operators<\/li>\n<li>72200 electricians (except industrial and power system)<\/li>\n<li>72201 industrial electricians<\/li>\n<li>72300 plumbers<\/li>\n<li>72301 steamfitters, pipefitters and sprinkler system installers<\/li>\n<li>72302 gas fitters<\/li>\n<li>72310 carpenters<\/li>\n<li>72311 cabinetmakers<\/li>\n<li>72320 bricklayers<\/li>\n<li>72400 construction millwrights and industrial mechanics<\/li>\n<li>72401 heavy-duty equipment mechanics<\/li>\n<li>72402 heating, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics<\/li>\n<li>72500 crane operators<\/li>\n<li>73100 concrete painters and decorators (except interior decorators)<\/li>\n<li>73113 floor covering installers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Skills Immigration (SI) category of the BCPNP targets skilled and semi-skilled workers in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-immigration-target-occupations\/\">high-demand occupations<\/a>\u00a0in BC and is further divided into five components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-skills-immigration-streams\/\">Skilled Workers<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-skills-immigration-streams\/\">Health Authority<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-skills-immigration-streams\/\">International Graduates<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-skills-immigration-streams\/\">International Post-Graduates<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-skills-immigration-streams\/\">Entry-level and semi-skilled workers<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>British Columbia\u2019s Housing Strategy Aims To Build More Homes, Lower Rents<\/h3>\n<p>British Columbia\u2019s new housing plan, dubbed <i>Homes for People<\/i>, is intended to speed up the delivery of new homes, increase the supply of middle-income housing, fight speculation in the housing market and help those who need it the most.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019ve scrolled through rental listings or seen the prices of homes in your community, you know how tough it is to find an affordable, decent place to live,\u201d says British Columbia Premier David Eby.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Watch allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u201cEven though our province is currently building more housing than ever before, it\u2019s just not enough to meet the need.
