We want to help you move to Canada.<\/span>\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/form.immigration.ca\/skilled-worker\/en\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Please submit your CV here.<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Natural and applied science policy researchers are going to be in big demand in the coming nine years as 7,700 more jobs are forecast to be created in that field than there will be qualified workers to fill them, creating opportunities for qualified foreign nationals to gain their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/immigration-au-canada-apercu\/\"><span class=\"s1\">permanent residence<\/span><\/a>\u00a0here through occupation-targeted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-express-entry-immigration\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Express Entry<\/span><\/a>\u00a0system draws.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOver the period 2022 &#8211; 2031, the number of job openings arising from expansion demand and replacement demand for natural and applied science policy researchers, consultants and program officers are expected to total 15,700, while the number of job seekers arising from school leavers, immigration and mobility is expected to total 8,000,\u201d reports the Canadian Occupational Projection System (COPS) website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAlthough this occupational group has had a balanced market in recent years, projected job openings are substantially higher than projected job seekers, creating a shortage of workers over the 2022 &#8211; 2031 period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Retiring Baby Boomers will open up a lot of positions for new workers but there will also be a lot of expansion in this field, forecasts the COPS website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cEmployment growth is expected to be stronger than the average for all occupations over the projection period,\u201d notes COPS.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/immigrants-to-quebec-more-likely-to-be-university-graduates-analysis-finds\/\">Immigrants To Quebec More Likely To Be University Graduates, Analysis Finds<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/parents-and-grandparents-program-arrivals-fell-in-july\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Parents And Grandparents Program Arrivals Fell In July<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-labour-market-softens-but-still-tighter-than-prior-to-the-covid-19-pandemic\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Canada Labour Market Softens But Still Tighter Than Prior To The COVID-19 Pandemic<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\">Attracted by relatively high wages and a growing interest in science and environmental issues, university students are forecast to enter into this field in much higher numbers than they have in the past. Immigrants are expected to make up 10 per cent of job seekers in this field in Canada in the coming nine years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In May, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) changed\u00a0Canada\u2019s Express Entry system to allow it to target 82 jobs in healthcare, technology, trades, transport and agriculture starting this summer \u2013 including natural and applied science policy researchers<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u2013 and so opened the door to a new pathway to immigration for them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The flagship Express Entry selection system had previously only conducted draws based on\u00a0immigration\u00a0programs, not by targeting specific occupations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cEverywhere I go, I\u2019ve heard loud and clear from employers across the country who are experiencing chronic labour shortages,\u201d said then-Immigration\u00a0Minister Sean Fraser.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThese changes\u00a0to\u00a0the Express Entry system will ensure that they have the skilled workers they need\u00a0to\u00a0grow and succeed.\u00a0 We can also grow our economy and help businesses with labour shortages while also increasing the number of French-proficient candidates\u00a0to\u00a0help ensure the vitality of French-speaking communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In late September, there were 41 job postings for natural and applied science policy researchers on the federal government\u2019s job-hunting and career-planning website, Jobbank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It ranked the job prospects of natural and applied science policy researchers as good over the next three years in the Yukon, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Nunavut and as moderate in Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Alberta.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Occupation-Targeted Draws Started For Express Entry Programs This Summer<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">In Canada, the median hourly wage for natural and applied science policy researchers, \u00a0categorized under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canadas-new-noc-2021-for-immigration-and-work-permit-applications-takes-effect-today\/\"><span class=\"s1\">National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021<\/span><\/a>\u00a0system with the code\u00a041400,\u00a0is $40.62 but that varies from a low of $26.64 right up to $59.86, reveals Jobbank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Based on a standard, 37.5-hour work week, that means these workers could expect to earn a top median annual income of $116.727.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Candidates hoping to immigrate through Express Entry occupation-targeted draws need at least six months of continuous work experience in Canada or abroad within the past three years in one of these occupations\u00a0to\u00a0be eligible, experience that can have been gained while working in Canada as temporary foreign workers with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visa-de-travail-canadien-travailler-au-canada\/\"><span class=\"s1\">work permits<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or as an international student with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/travailler-etudier-au-canada\/\"><span class=\"s1\">student visa<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Under the changes announced at the end of May, the Express Entry streams, including the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/travailleurs-qualifies-vue-densemble\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Federal Skilled Worker<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(FSW) program,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/programme-des-travailleurs-de-metiers-specialises\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Federal Skilled Trades<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(FST) program and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/categorie-de-lexperience-canadienne\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Canadian Experience Class<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(CEC), as well as parts of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/appercu-des-programmes-des-candidats-des-provinces\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Provincial Nominee Programs<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(PNP) are now more responsive\u00a0to\u00a0labour market needs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Watch video:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><iframe title=\"YouTube video class=\"p1\">Canada first signalled its intention\u00a0to\u00a0start occupation-specific draws through Express Entry in June last year, when changes were made\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0<i>Immigration, Refugee and Protection Act<\/i>\u00a0to\u00a0allow invitations based on occupations and other attributes, such as language ability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The majority of Canada\u2019s provinces have been issuing occupation-specific invitations for several years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Under the changes\u00a0to\u00a0the act, the\u00a0immigration\u00a0minister is required\u00a0to\u00a0consult provinces and territories, members of industry, unions, employers, workers, worker advocacy groups, settlement provider organizations, and\u00a0immigration\u00a0researchers and practitioners, before announcing new categories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">IRCC must also report\u00a0to\u00a0parliament each year on the categories that were chosen and the reason for the choices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) says the number of occupations facing shortages doubled between 2019 and 2021.
