Newfoundland and Labrador is hosting a series of virtual Canada jobs<\/span><\/a> fairs to help employers recruit more foreign workers to resolve ongoing labour shortages.<\/p>\n

\u201cNewfoundland and Labrador employers with an interest in filling their staffing needs with workers from outside of Canada are encouraged to register for upcoming virtual immigration fairs starting in September,\u201d notes Newfoundland and Labrador\u2019s Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese free virtual fairs will be held between Sept. 20, 2023 and March 27, 2024, starting with the East and South East Asia and Oceania regions.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the first seven months of this year Newfoundland saw an immigration boom of 109.5 per cent compared to the same period\u00a0last\u00a0year, with 3,540\u00a0new\u00a0permanent\u00a0residents\u00a0for that period.<\/p>\n

That makes it the province with the fastest rate of immigration growth in the first seven months of this year compared to the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n

The biggest difference for immigration on the Rock has been its\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(PNP) which saw growth of 351.6 per cent in its number of\u00a0new\u00a0permanent\u00a0residents\u00a0in the first seven months of this year, or 1,850 more newcomers to the province during that period than for the comparable one last year.<\/p>\n

And the Atlantic Canadian province is bullish on boosting that level of immigration even higher than it already is.<\/p>\n

The province has already held an online information session for interested employers earlier this month, on Sept. 6, but any employers who missed it and are interested can still register online here<\/span><\/a> and send any questions they might have to attraction@gov.nl.ca<\/span>.<\/p>\n
