Three Canadian\u00a0universities once again\u00a0made the top 50 of the QS World University Rankings 2024: Top Global Universities<\/i>, hanging onto their coveted ranks, and another 16 universities in this country made the cut of being in the top 500 worldwide.<\/p>\n
Those latest rankings by\u00a0QS\u00a0Quacquarelli Symonds, a provider of analytics and insight to the\u00a0global\u00a0higher education sector, reveal McGill\u00a0University, the\u00a0University\u00a0of Toronto, and the\u00a0University\u00a0of British Columbia are all among the best 50 universities\u00a0in the\u00a0world.<\/p>\n
The University of Toronto (UofT) was the highest-ranked university in Canada, placing 21st<\/sup><\/span> with a score of 86.3, barely nudging out McGill University which scored 83.7 and placed 30th<\/sup><\/span>. The University of British Columbia (UBC) took the 34th<\/sup><\/span> spot with a score of 81.5.<\/p>\n The 2024 ranking places UofT higher than at any other time since 2015, moving it up 13 spots from 34th<\/sup><\/span> last year.<\/p>\n But while UofT has improved in the rankings, McGill\u2019s standing has dropped, falling from the 21st<\/sup><\/span> spot in 2015 to the 30th<\/sup><\/span> place showing this year. Last year, the university in Montreal was ranked 31st<\/sup><\/span>.<\/p>\n Read More<\/b><\/p>\n Canada Certified Skilled Trades Workers Out-Earn Other Immigrants, Study Says<\/a><\/span> QS Quacquarelli Symonds has in the past described McGill as based in the most student-friendly city in the\u00a0world with 50 research centres and institutes, more than 400 programs, and an alumni network of more than 250,000 around the\u00a0world.<\/p>\n \u201cBased in Montreal, McGill\u00a0University\u00a0ranks among Canada’s most prestigious\u00a0universities, attracting thousands of international students from over 150 countries every year, and the highest percentage of PhD students of any Canadian research\u00a0university,\u201d noted Quacquarelli Symonds.<\/p>\n The biggest improvement in Canada\u2019s top three universities this year was UBC which leapfrogged 13 spots in the rankings, rising to 34th<\/sup><\/span> from the 47th<\/sup><\/span> spot last year.
