Once the officers have confirmed this, the principal applicant and the applicant\u2019s family members would need to clear their:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Medical examinations<\/li>\n<li>Criminal checks and,<\/li>\n<li>Security checks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Officers might require additional information pertaining to the ways by which they could determine the admissibility of the applicants. For this, they would need to refer to ENF 2 \/ OP 18 \u2013 Evaluating Inadmissibility.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Immigration Medical Examination (IME)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the provisions specified in paragraph A16 (2) (b) of R29, a medical examination could typically include any or all of the following:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>A physical examination<\/li>\n<li>A mental examination<\/li>\n<li>A review of past medical history<\/li>\n<li>Laboratory tests<\/li>\n<li>Diagnostic tests and,<\/li>\n<li>A medical assessment of records concerning the applicant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Which Individuals Need to Submit to an Immigration Medical Examination (IME)?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The authorities require the following individuals to submit to an Immigration Medical Examination (IME):<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Permanent resident applicants<\/li>\n<li>Temporary residents and,<\/li>\n<li>Refugees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Do the Authorities Provide Any Medical Exemptions? What are the Various Medical Exemptions Provided?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The authorities typically provide the following exemptions:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Exemptions from undergoing an Immigration Medical Examination (IME) and,<\/li>\n<li>Exemption from inadmissibility on the grounds of excessive demand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What is the Process for Issuing Medical Instructions?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The authorities have put in place various procedures for issuing medical instructions and upfront medical exams.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Who Has the Authority for Performing an Immigration Medical Examination (IME)?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In many cases, the authorities permit panel physicians to perform an Immigration Medical Examination (IME).
